Description

Oxford Chambers, Printers, Braddon, Oxford House, and Greenstiles Cycles is a late 19th-century building featuring a three-storey whitewashed brick front and a slate roof. The structure has boxed eaves and a large brick chimney stack on the centre left, with a smaller one on the right gable end. The façade is six windows wide, with uneven spacing. The second floor has two-light sash windows, while the first floor features taller two-light casement windows that open onto a balcony, all with deep reveals.

On the ground floor, there is a four-panel door on the left with a fanlight, and a plain shop front to the right that includes a recessed modern door. Beyond this, there is a two-light sash window and two four-panel doors with rectangular fanlights. The cycle shop front on the far right has a plain fascia supported by double scroll brackets at the ends, resting on broad pilasters with panelled decoration. The shop window consists of three grouped sashes, and there is a half-glazed door to the right.

The principal interest of this building lies in its six-bay balcony, which features highly ornamental ironwork railings with foliage detail. The balcony is supported by cast iron columns with lightly foliated capitals and Gothic traceried spandrels, and the ironwork continues along the sides, matching the depth of the balcony.
