Fodder Storage Building N of former Root Shed, Leighton Farm

The Fodder Storage Building, located north of the former Root Shed at Leighton Farm, is a large aisled barn dating from the 19th century. It is constructed of brick set on a random rubble stone plinth, which features a projecting slate damp proof rat-trap course. The barn has a slate roof with coped gables supported by moulded kneelers. The eastern gable end facing the road has three bays, with the central bay slightly advanced. This bay contains three stepped round-headed windows with louvres above a tall round-headed opening that has stone imposts and a boarded gate set in vertical wooden runners. Each aisle features a blind round-headed window. The western gable end mirrors the eastern side but includes breathers in a lozenge pattern in the outer bays. The side walls are predominantly weatherboarded, while the vent ridge has louvres and glazed panels on the northern side, with corrugated asbestos-cement sheets on the southern side.

Internally, the barn is divided into nine bays by open timber-framed partitions. The central bay includes a granary loft with a trap door.
