Description
The Fodder Storage Building, located northeast of the former Root Shed at Leighton Farm, is a large aisled barn dating from the 19th century. Constructed of brick, it features a slate roof with coped gables resting on moulded kneelers. The west front, facing the road, has three bays, with the central bay slightly projecting. This bay includes three stepped round-headed lights with louvres above a large round-headed doorway, which is framed by stone imposts and has a boarded gate set in vertical runners. Each aisle contains a blind round-headed window. The east gable mirrors this design but includes breathers arranged in a lozenge pattern in the outer bays. The side walls are predominantly covered with weatherboarding. The vent ridge features louvred panels, some of which are glazed, on the north side, while the south side is covered with corrugated asbestos-cement sheets.
Inside, the building is divided into nine bays by open timber-framed partitions, which also support a granary loft.
