Description
Cefndyrys Farm features an L-shaped multi-purpose farm building, constructed to serve various agricultural functions. The northern range includes a barn and cattle housing, while the eastern range contains stables and calf pens. The lofted eastern range is built of rubble stone and has tooled segmental-headed openings, with a slate roof on the front slope and corrugated asbestos-cement on the rear. It has six doorways, all fitted with split boarded doors, except for the right end, which has been converted into a small-pane window. Additionally, there are two 2-light windows between the doorways on the right side, a single-light window on the left side, and two ventilation strips. The loft features five boarded doors set under flat arches.
The barn, which is slightly lower than the eastern range, has a timber frame resting on a rubble-stone plinth, clad in corrugated iron and weatherboarding. It has a slate roof on the front and corrugated asbestos-cement on the rear, with gables that retain their bargeboards. Facing the yard to the south, the barn has full-height boarded doors to the left of center and to the right. The west gable end, where some weatherboarding has been partially replaced, includes a central boarded door and a loft door. On the north side of the barn, there is a lower engine house positioned where the wagon bay would have been, topped with a hipped roof of slate and stone tiles. This engine house is open fronted, supported by stone piers with some infill dwarf walls. To its left, there is a blocked door, full-height double boarded doors, and two boarded stable doors, each with 2-light windows on their outer sides. The east gable end features a weatherboarded gable and an attached rubble-stone garden wall.
The rear of the eastern range has ventilation strips for the loft and an inserted window near the right-hand end. Below this, there is a replacement boarded door with an overlight on the left side, two ventilation strips in the center, and a small inserted window on the right.
The barn boasts a five-bay roof with raking struts. The engine house, designed to house a portable engine for threshing, retains a line shaft with belt drives.
