Description
Lower Hanter is a farmhouse dating from the 16th or 17th century, consisting of one-and-a-half storeys and representing a truncated portion of a larger sub-medieval house. The first-floor elevations feature exposed post and panel timber-framing. The base walls are rebuilt in rubble, and the gable end is rendered. On the north side, there is an eaves dormer section with a long sloping roofline, covered by a slate roof and featuring a ridge stack. The windows are 19th and 20th century casements. The interior has not been inspected.
To the right of the farmhouse, there is an attached cowhouse and stable range. The central section is likely older, with a rubble base and weatherboarded walls, along with boarded doors and loft shutters. The end section dates from the 19th century and is built from coursed rubble blocks, featuring cambered voussoir lintels and a slate roof.
