Description
Pendre is a symmetrical two-storey house with a three-window front made of coursed local rubble, dating from the late Georgian period. It has a slightly undulating slate roof with rubble end chimney stacks. The façade features 12-pane sash windows with cambered voussoir lintels, and a recessed six-panel door flanked by panelling, topped with an unusually traceried broad overlight. To the right side, there are similar windows and a continuous cross range that includes another six-panel door with a Gothic overlight. The rear also has similar windows with red brick voussoirs. The gable end of the cross range is deeply asymmetrical, and there are modern windows in a blocked doorway.
In front of the house, there is a narrow forecourt enclosed by contemporary spearhead iron railings and gates with an oval lockplate, which share a similar design with the churchyard railings. Pendre is believed to have once served as the Vicarage. Stone gate piers mark the right flank of the yard entry, and a rubble boundary wall extends beyond to the corner and returns along the side lane.
Inside, the house retains many late Georgian features, including six-panel doors, panelled shutters, Regency architraves with decorative bosses, and a staircase with 'S' shaped tread ends and a turned newel.
