Description
7 Lower Canal Road is part of a two-storey, asymmetric terrace located in Newtown. The terrace consists of Nos 4, 5, and 8, which each have one window, while Nos 6 and 7 feature symmetric two-window fronts. The building is constructed of English garden wall bond brick, which is painted on the front, and has a gently pitched slate roof with a saw-toothed eaves cornice and brick stacks.
The first-floor windows have two-light casements positioned below the eaves, while the ground floor features broader two-light small-paned casement windows. The windows are topped with cambered header arches and have plain reveals. There are later 19th-century timber porches with gabled fishscale slate roofs, bargeboards, finials, and panelled sides. Nos 5, 7, and 8 have later brick plinths, and Nos 4 and 5 have 19th-century doors. The upper portion of the end elevations is slate hung, and there is a cross wing at the rear of No 5. The building also has contemporary but modern windows and a yard that encloses a wash-house and latrines at the rear of No 4.
