Description

No. 2 and its attached outbuildings are a pair of cottages dating from the 19th century, built on the Vaynor Estate. They are timber-framed structures with a painted brick plinth and nogging. The roofs are covered in graded slate and feature a large brick axial stack with diagonally-set, clustered shafts. The cottages are laid out symmetrically; each has two-light casement windows, and an off-centre doorway accompanied by a three-light casement window. A 19th-century battened plank door remains in No. 2. All windows have small canopy hoods supported by moulded brackets, a characteristic detail of the Vaynor Estate. Two dormers project from the roof, each divided by a central mullion into paired casement windows, also featuring small canopies. Each cottage is accompanied by a single-storeyed outbuilding, also timber-framed with weatherboarding. One outbuilding incorporates a small brick section adjacent to the house, with a three-light casement window.
