Description
Apple House at Glanhafren Hall is a two-storey building with a square plan. The lower storey is constructed of random rubble, while the upper storey is made of brick, topped with a pyramidal slate roof and a wooden lantern. The lantern is square and features cusped openings beneath a tie roof, which is leaded and has projecting eaves supported by bracketed corbels, along with a pinnacle. The upper storey has segmental openings on the south, east, and north sides, all of which are boarded up. On the west side, a stairway made of hammer-dressed stone leads to a doorway with a segmental head. The lower storey has a doorway on the south side, also with a segmental head, built into the brickwork of the upper storey, and features a planked door. The random rubble wall on the south side extends westward with brick upper courses and coping, incorporating a second doorway with a segmental head in brick. This second planked door provides access to the stairway leading to the upper storey. The surface on the south side of the building is cobbled. The lower storey has a cobbled floor, while the upper storey was not accessible during the inspection in January 1996, but it may have been built with wooden nest boxes.
