Description
The Cottage, also known as Walnut Cottage, is a Grade II listed building featuring a rendered exterior and a slate roof, along with rendered chimneys. It is a single storey structure with an attic. The elevation facing the former coach road includes a projecting gabled bay that has three linked cast-iron multipaned windows with Gothick glazing details. The larger central window features an ogee head, and above it is a later window with an ogee hood-mould. To the right, there is a later range designed in a similar style, and to the left, there is a gabled porch.
The left-hand return showcases a single storey semicircular bay with a central cast-iron multipaned window, also with Gothick glazing and an ogee head, flanked by smaller windows on each side. The rear elevation, which faces Marford Hill, has a slightly projecting gabled bay and single storey extensions. Inside, the upper room features a ceiling with plaster ribs. The Cottage has group value with the Trevor Arms Hotel.
