Description

10-12 Weston Drive is a stucco-faced building over brick, originally with a slate roof, now tiled. The main part (No 10) dates from the 18th century and has a square plan. It has an entrance in the centre of its eastern side, which has a three-window arrangement. A porch, likely added around 1900, features an embattled design with a chamfered four-centered archway and nailed inner doors. A sash window sits to the left of the doorway, and above it is a mullioned and transomed window with gothic upper panes. A painted blind window mimics the appearance of a real window above it on the left. To the right of the doorway is a full-height canted bay window with embattled detail, also likely added around 1900, and containing mullioned and transomed windows with leaded lights. A verandah with a swept roof (formerly lead) supported by cast iron posts with Greek motifs extends around the left bay, across the front garden, and along the rear elevation. The garden front has a two-window arrangement with gothic upper panes to some windows, a few of which contain stained glass on the ground floor. A stack projects from the rear elevation and is flanked by two oriel windows, likely additions from around 1900.

No 12 was originally a rear wing of the main house and was extensively remodelled around 1900. It consists of two parallel sections set back from the main building. The original entrance, now disused, is located within a two-story porch built across an angle; heavy stone piers support the upper story, topped with a parapet originally embattled. All windows have been renewed. The entrance has been moved to the return elevation.

The interior of No 10 retains many original 18th century details, including a staircase with reeded doorcases and cornice rails. Some interior features, including two fireplaces, are the result of remodelling work around 1900.
