Description

The Hanmer Arms is a late Georgian public house, built in the 18th century, that stands 2½ storeys high. It is constructed of Flemish-bond brick and features a slate roof with projecting boarded eaves and three brick stacks. The front facade has three windows, with the entrance located on the left side, framed by a 20th-century pedimented doorcase and door. A pub sign is positioned in the upper left corner. The windows are 16-pane hornless sashes set beneath cambered heads, with the center-right window occupying the spot of the original door, which was once sheltered by a gabled porch, now only visible as a shadow above. A faded painted banner is displayed on a plaster panel above this window.

On the left gable end, there are two 2-light attic windows beneath segmental heads. The right gable end features two inserted casements on the lower storey, one inserted casement in the upper right, and two 2-light attic casements in original segmental-headed openings. The lower 2-storey rear wing has 4-pane sash windows in the upper storey, situated above an added 1-storey lean-to. The interior has been modernized.
