Description

Stafford House is a two-storey, L-shaped building constructed in brick with stone dressings and a half-timbered upper storey, featuring a red plain tiled roof in the Arts and Crafts style. The entrance front faces Fairy Road and includes a central entrance porch with a four-centred stone archway that displays a date and initials on the lintel. Above the entrance, there is a canted oriel with a steep facetted conical roof that jetties out. On either side of the doorway, there are paired sash windows, and below the timbered upper storey, there is a segmental string course or corbel table. The upper storey has casement windows flanking the central oriel.

The return elevation facing Erddig Road features an expressed stack in the gable with moulded shafts and a heavy cap, leading to a rear wing that has a higher hipped roof. This wing contains large mullioned and transomed stair windows with leaded glazing. The rear elevation has a canted angle and a cat-slide roof against the inner angle of the garden front. The gabled return of the entrance range includes a canted bay window on the ground floor and a casement window in the jettied gable above, with the gable apex further jettied out. Additionally, there is a semi-octagonal turret supported by corbels in the inner angle, featuring continuous casement windows with leaded glazing and a faceted conical roof.
