Description
The New Hall Gate to Chirk Park, known as the North Lodge, is a Grade II listed building constructed from ashlar sandstone with slate roofs, featuring lead-roofed end pediments. The two pavilions are positioned within a semicircular indentation in the stone estate wall, approximately 10.75 meters apart. Each pavilion is a single cell with a Greek Doric portico at both the front and back, while the inner sides are designed with two blind arches beneath a continuation of the entablature. The slender, unfluted columns support a well-proportioned architrave and a triglyph frieze, topped with a pediment that includes plain mutule blocks. Inside the arch, there is a round-headed opening with a moulded edge, featuring a 12-pane sash window at the front and a 5-fielded panel access door at the rear. The outer face of the building is made of rubble and includes a chimney for an internal fireplace.
