Description
Barc-du, also known as Sawmill Cottage, is a timber-framed cottage dating from the 18th century. It is a single-storey building with an attic, featuring whitewashed panels and a stone front that likely replaces the original framing on the south side. The cottage has a slate roof. The timber framing consists of two square panels in height and eight panels in length. The stone front includes a central boarded door set within a modern timber gabled porch. The layout is a two-unit plan, with paned timber windows on either side and a small gabled dormer above. There are also small windows at the rear. The roof extends over the shoulder of a large gable stack, and the exposed collar and queen strut roof can be seen on the east gable end. The building was not accessible at the time of inspection.
