Description
The Britannia Inn is a 2-storey, 3-window public house dating from the 18th century. It is constructed of rubble stone with larger quoins and features a slate roof behind coped gables supported by moulded kneelers. There are coursed stone stacks located to the left of the center and at each end of the building. The small-pane windows have been replaced but remain in their original openings, which are topped with hood moulds and have stone sills.
To the right of the center is a castellated porch that includes a Tudor-headed doorway framed in freestone. Inside, there is a half-lit door. The rear of the building has five small-pane windows in the upper storey, also replaced and set under hood moulds. Below these windows is an added lean-to that connects to a single-storey wing on the west side. The lean-to retains rear windows with hood moulds.
Internally, the building has undergone alterations, including the removal of a partition wall; however, the central room still features a fireplace with a timber lintel.
