Description
The Cowshed Range at Rhual is a building constructed of random rubble with roughly squared quoins and dressed stone surrounds to its openings. It features a zinc roof topped with a timber bellcote at the southern end, which is surmounted by a weather vane depicting a running fox. The elevation facing the yard includes three openings with arched heads; the central opening has a circular pitching eye above it. To the right, there is a tall arched cart entrance with a small circular pitching eye, followed by another range of three openings, with an additional cart entrance in the end bay that is now blocked.
The original roof structure has been replaced with a later 20th-century iron roof. Inside, the space has been altered and subdivided, but some elements of the 18th-century ceilings remain visible in places.
