Description

4 Red Houses is a row of two-storey, single-fronted houses built in a modest vernacular style. They are constructed of red brick with red tile roofs and feature projecting eaves. The brick ridge stacks are set back from the ends and positioned towards the centre. Nos 1 and 5 are wider at the ends, creating advanced gabled end bays. Each house has boarded doors with strap hinges, located under overlights and segmental heads on the outer sides, while segmental-headed four-light windows are found on the inner sides, along with a centrally-placed similar window in the upper storey. The windows have small panes above wooden transoms and large panes below. The attic tablets are dated '1911' on the right side of No 1 and inscribed 'PTDC' on the left side of No 5. The three narrower central houses, Nos 2-4, share similar details, but their upper-storey windows are situated beneath gablets.

On the right side wall of No 1, there are segmental-headed sash windows in the lower storey, featuring small panes in the upper sash and large panes below, along with two-light casements in the upper storey. The left side wall of No 5 has a similar arrangement.
