Description
Islwyn is a simple Gothic style, two-storey house built from tooled snecked stone with freestone dressings. It features a symmetrical front with two windows and a steep slate roof that has overhanging eaves and barge boards pierced by quatrefoils. A central ridge stack made of yellow brick has vertical ribs and a corbelled cap, reflecting the Gwysaney Estate style. The windows are designed with stone mullions and hood moulds, with three-light windows on the lower storey and two-light windows beneath the eaves on the upper storey. The central boarded door, which has strap hinges and an overlight, is set within a gabled canopy supported by wooden brackets and stone corbels, adorned with bands of fish-scale slates.
On the right gable end, there is a two-light mullioned window located lower right, while the left gable end features similar two-light windows on each storey. Set back from the left gable end is the front of an integral rear wing that includes an outshut and a yellow-brick ridge stack. This wing has a boarded door on the right, located in an added glazed porch, a two-light window to the left, and another two-light window above. The rear outshut also contains a two-light window. The building has not been inspected.
