Description

2 Red Houses is a row of two-storey, single-fronted houses built in a modest vernacular style. They are constructed of red brick and feature red tile roofs with projecting eaves. Brick ridge stacks are positioned towards the back of the houses and at the ends. The end houses, Nos 1 and 5, are wider and have advanced gabled end bays. Each house has a boarded door with strap hinges, located under overlights with segmental heads, on the outer sides. The inner sides feature segmental-headed four-light windows, with a similar centrally-placed window in the upper storey. The windows have small panes above wooden transoms and large panes below. The attic tablets on the right side of No 1 are dated '1911', while No 5 has 'PTDC' inscribed on the left side. The three narrower central houses, Nos 2-4, have similar architectural details, but their upper-storey windows are situated beneath gablets.

On the right side wall of No 1, there are segmental-headed sash windows in the lower storey, with small panes in the upper sash and large panes below, along with two-light casements in the upper storey. The left side wall of No 5 has a similar arrangement.
