Description

This is an L-shaped, two-storey range of farm buildings located at Play Yn Llan. The structure is built of uncoursed rubble and has a medium-pitched slate roof. The main section at the rear of Plas yn Llan consists of three sections from two main periods and features a continuous roof. The central section is the oldest, likely dating from the late 17th century, and was originally a barn that was raised in the late 18th century and converted into stables. It has two tiers of ventilation slits, most of which are blocked. On the left side, there is a stable door that is stepped up, and on the right, two modern steel-framed four-pane windows have replaced two former stable doors. Under the eaves, there is an additional steel-framed window with six panes.

To the right, there is an added bay that is flush with the original section and dates from the same time as the raised work. This bay features a slightly recessed entrance that is stepped up and has a cambered head with stone voussoirs, along with a contemporary boarded door. The left section of the range is from the early 19th century and has a gabled south side, with crudely kneelered stone and tile coping. It includes a first-floor entrance with a cambered head and external stone steps. The main front has two entrances with cambered heads; the left entrance, which was originally for a cart shed, now has modern wooden sliding doors, while the right entrance has a boarded door. There are also two contemporary near-flush unglazed windows on the first floor, with the left window featuring wooden latticing and the right window having wooden internal shutters and a single vertical iron bar.

The range on the right, forming the eastern arm of the L, is also two storeys high and consists of two main periods. It is constructed of rubble and has a gabled roof to the east, similar to the other sections. The left section is the earlier part, likely from the late 18th century, and has been raised and extended in the early 19th century. It features steel windows under the eaves and a cambered-headed entrance to the right, along with a contemporary near-flush wooden window surround that contains a modern steel window above it.
