Description
The upper entrance gates and railings at Nerquis Hall date from the late 18th century and are simplified versions of the lower gates. They consist of paired tripartite iron gates, featuring a central carriage entrance flanked by pedestrian gates. Each gate is supported by four iron gate-piers that have open-work pierced geometric decoration, moulded bases and cornices, and raised ball finials. The gates themselves are plain and include two tiers of arrow-headed railings, with a segmental hoop in the upper section and crossed diagonals below. Similar railings connect the two gateways, and to the right, there is a short, curved stretch of contemporary, though partly rebuilt, brick wall with stone capping.
