Description

Colomendy is a two-and-a-half storey house built in the lobby entry plan style, featuring a lower rear wing. The structure is made of rubble stone with larger quoins, painted white, and topped with a slate roof that has a central stone chimney stack. The windows have been replaced with modern materials, mostly substituting earlier sash windows. At the front, there is an added lean-to porch at the center, which includes an arched window on the lower left and flat-headed windows on the lower and upper right. To the right side, there is a single-storey gabled projection with a doorway on the left side wall.

The left gable end of the house features segmental-headed windows on both storeys, along with a smaller attic window. The upper storey has a three-light window with ovolo mullions, and above it is a dated tablet with the initials 'WP & M', which likely comes from another location. The rear of the house includes an added single-storey lean-to on the right side, which has a single window in the center and a doorway set back on the left side against the main rear wing. The gabled rear wing has a reduced end chimney stack and inserted windows on both storeys of its gable end. The left side of the wing also has inserted windows in both storeys. The right gable end mirrors the left with segmental-headed windows in both storeys and a smaller attic window. The single-storey projection has inserted windows at the rear and side.

Inside, the hall on the right side of the entrance features a joist-beam ceiling with stepped stops and a fireplace with a timber lintel. The parlour has a joist-beam ceiling with run-out stops and a more elaborate chimneypiece, which includes a stone overmantel adorned with four cusped tracery panels, displaying shields and roses in low relief. The initials 'PWM' are located above the panels. The original staircase was likely in the rear wing, but the current staircase is modern and plain. In the main sleeping chamber above the hall, there is a fireplace with a simpler stone overmantel compared to the parlour, featuring two shallow blind segmental arches. The right arch contains a Welsh inscription, while the left displays the date 1660 and the initials PWM.
