Description

The former stables at Lislea House consist of two ranges that form a courtyard, with the main two-storey range oriented east-west. This range is built of Flemish bond brickwork and features a slate roof with a cut-down chimney stack on the north side. The south side, which faces the courtyard, is whitened and has a small square boarded window on the left side of the upper floor, along with an oculus towards the center. Between these two openings, there is a small section with three dove holes.

On the ground floor, from the left, there are double planked doors with a flat brick head, followed by a small two-light window. Next is a broad entrance with double planked doors beneath a concrete lintel, with a two-light window under a segmental brick head immediately to the right. Further right, there is another small two-light window, followed by a single stable door under a segmental brick head. The east gable end features a single boarded oculus.

The north elevation, which faces Church Road, is unpainted and has blind door and window openings that mimic a two-storey, four-window house. It includes a round arched doorway flanked by pairs of windows with flat-arched brick heads and brick sills, with shorter windows aligned above. This elevation also has five small vents.

The west gable end connects to a lower range at right angles, which is the rear wing of the Old Police Station. This section is also constructed of brick with a slate roof and has a narrow four-pane window on the right side, alongside a wider opening on the left with a brick lintel. To the right of this opening is an infilled dove hole, and there is a timber ridge ventilator with a weather vane to the left. Beyond this, there is an added bay featuring a wide entrance with a long timber lintel and double planked doors.

Access to the interior was not available at the time of inspection.
