Description

The ice house at Gyrn Castle is a circular structure built with low walls of rubble stone and a conical roof that has a low pitch, covered with metal sheets and some slate, which is partly fallen. The entire building is obscured by dense vegetation. On the south side, there is a gabled projection made of coursed stone with a raised verge. The entrance features central boarded double doors, although one half is missing, situated beneath a stone lintel. Above the doors, there is a small opening with a lintel.

Inside, the entrance leads into a lobby, at the end of which is a doorway with brick jambs and a stone lintel that opens into the main chamber. This chamber has coursed stone walls, a domical vault, and is located below ground level.
