Description
The lych gate at the Church of St Mary dates from the 18th century and features dwarf walls made of snecked stone. It has open timber-framed sides with two arched bays. The bell-cast roof is supported by cambered tie beams, which have an inscription from the Psalms on the west side, along with a king post and curving struts. The roof extends forward from the tie beams on brackets and is covered with slate, featuring cusped bargeboards. In the center of the lych gate are double wooden gates.
This lych gate is set within a semi-circular recess against the west boundary wall of the churchyard. The attached walls, which define the west and south sides of the churchyard, are constructed of rubble stone and topped with saddleback coping.
