Description
Keepers House, including outbuildings and yard wall, is a 1½-storey cottage built in a simple Gothic style. It is constructed of brick and features a steep tile roof with apex finials and two brick ridge stacks. The windows have wooden mullions, and the openings are topped with freestone lintels. The front of the cottage, which faces west, is asymmetrical with two windows. On the left side, there is a projecting gable, and a central porch is nestled in the angle with the main structure. The hipped lean-to porch has angle buttresses, and the doorway is located in the right side wall, featuring a pointed brick arch and replaced double half-lit doors. The west side has a similar arch that is infilled with glazing. The projecting gable on the left includes a three-light bay window with a hipped roof supported by corbelled eaves, and below it is a two-light attic window situated beneath a relief panel displaying a crown and the date. To the right of the porch is a two-light window. The right (south) gable end has a three-light window on the lower storey and a two-light attic window above. Slightly set back at the end is the brick wall that encloses a yard at the rear of the cottage. The rear of the cottage features a central two-light window on the lower storey, a smaller three-light window above it, and an inserted skylight. To the right of these windows is a shallow gabled projection that includes a boarded door offset to the left of a single-storey projection, which has a two-light attic window above it.
Two single-storey projections at right angles form two sides of the yard and are attached to both the cottage and the boundary wall, sharing similar architectural details with the cottage. The brick wall forming the south side of the yard has higher square gate piers topped with pyramid caps. Not inspected.
