Description
A 1½-storey cottage in simple Gothic style, of brick and a steep tile roof with apex finials and 2 brick ridge stacks. Windows have wooden mullions, and openings have freestone lintels. The asymmetrical 2-window front, facing W, has a projecting gable on the L side, and a central porch clasped in the angle with the main range. The hipped lean-to porch has angle buttresses and its doorway in the R side wall. This has a pointed brick arch and replaced double half-lit doors. The W side, facing the front, has a similar arch infilled with glazing. The projecting gable to the L has a 3-light bay window with hipped roof on corbelled eaves, and 2-light attic window below a relief panel with a crown and the date. On the R side of the porch is a 2-light window. The R (S) gable end has a 3-light window in the lower storey and 2-light attic window above. Set slightly back at the end is the brick wall to a yard at the rear of the cottage. The rear of the cottage has a central 2-light lower-storey window, smaller 3-light window above and inserted skylight. To their R is a shallow gabled projection which has a boarded door offset L of a single-storey projection, above which is a 2-light attic window.
Two single-storey projections at right angles form 2 sides of the yard and are attached to the cottage and boundary wall. They have details similar to the cottage. The brick wall forming the S side of the yard has higher square gate piers with pyramid caps.
