Description
Linthaugh is a single storey and attic, symmetrical 3-bay Gothick L-plan cottage built in 1821. It is constructed from pale cream sandstone ashlar and features rusticated quoins, a base course, pointed-arch openings, and windows with raised margins and cills.
The west elevation has a projecting rusticated gabled porch at the center, which contains a panelled door and a pointed fanlight. There is a single window with a moulded hoodmould in the flanking bays and a moulded cornice below a quasi-parapet.
On the north elevation, there is a 2-bay gable-end to the right with hoodmoulded windows at the ground level, one of which is blind to the right. Above, there is a single window in the gablehead. To the left, a broad single bay is set back, featuring a rectangular window at ground level and a segmental-headed window above that breaks the eaves, topped with a gabled dormerhead. Additionally, there is a single storey lean-to shed to the outer left.
The east elevation has a projecting gable to the right with a single storey lean-to shed at ground level. To the left, there is a single storey lean-to porch and closet, a bipartite window on the left, and a door in the re-entrant angle with a first-floor window under the eaves of the main wall.
On the south elevation, there is a gable-end to the left with a hoodmoulded window to the right at ground level and another window at the center above. A single storey lean-to is set back to the right, along with a recessed range to the right that has a rectangular window and a lean-to with a door to the outer right.
The cottage features timber casement windows with leaded lights, small-pane swash, and case and casement windows to the rear. It has crowstepped gables, beack skewputts, and corniced ashlar apex stacks, all covered with grey slates.
The interior was not seen in 1993.
