Description
The Surgery is a 2-storey building with single storey wings, constructed from red brick and featuring a hipped slate main roof and a broad brick chimney stack. The front is symmetrical, with a plinth and sill band, and has 12-pane sash windows that are taller on the ground floor. The central entrance is tall and arched, adorned with voussoirs and a fine traceried fanlight, flanked by sidelights and a 6-panel door. The wings on either side of the entrance are slightly stepped forward and may have originally served as coach-houses. The front gables have a simple pediment treatment with ornamental diamond motifs and tall arched recesses. The left wing has a tiled roof and a side elevation with three windows, including sashes and a central entrance. The right wing features a slate roof with modern windows and an attached monopitch range. The rear of the building is similar to the front. Inside, the altered interior retains a simple Georgian curved staircase.
