Description

Stormont Cottage is a two-storey cottage, originally comprising a pair of cottages, dating from the 18th century. The structure is built of limestone rubble, with a slate roof and rectangular stone stacks at each end; the right-hand cottage is roughcast. The original entrances were paired in the centre of the building, but the left-hand door has been blocked; the right-hand door is a simple boarded door with a cambered stone head. Multi-pane horizontal-sliding sash windows with cambered stone heads are located on both floors of the outer bays. Each end has a single-storey lean-to extension featuring a doorway. A 20th-century red brick single-storey extension is set at the southwest corner, at a right angle to the main body of the cottage. Further small horizontal-sliding sash windows are found at the rear on the first floor.

Inside, a small partition is located near the original entrance. The right-hand room contains a cooking range, while the left-hand room has a cast iron fireplace. Wooden straight stairs are situated against the rear wall, with doorways leading to the attached extensions. The cottages now connect through a central partition wall. The first-floor landing features slim stick balusters with a rounded rail.
