Description
Ectarc, formerly known as Bedyddwyr Chapel, is a classical two-storey building with a three-bay gable front, constructed from red brick and featuring golden freestone dressings, including a plinth and cill band. The front façade is characterized by three giant round arches supported by Doric pilasters, nook shafts, and roll mouldings. The gable is adorned with a pediment treatment and aedicule bases, along with a moulded attic roundel and a rectangular plaque at the top. The windows are modern small pane fixed glazed with marginal glazing bars. The main entrance features a chamfered outer arch and a small pane fanlight, now fitted with modern glazed doors and a projecting semicircular hood, leading up broad semicircular steps. The left side of the building has a roughcast finish with four windows, where three small pane sash windows on the ground floor have been blocked, while the first-floor windows have labels with stops. There is a modernized chapel house at the rear left, and the right side is similar.
Internally, the building has been extensively altered to create a conference and exhibition centre. The first floor is at gallery level and retains some original details, including a segmental arched ceiling with three large coloured ceiling roses, the central one featuring metal ventilators. A deep cornice with petal ornament sweeps up around the two tall openings on either side of the former pulpit, as well as over the outer windows in the front hall.
