Description
The building is a former village school, constructed in the 19th century in multi-coloured brown brick with a slightly vitrified appearance. The building has rounded corners (bullnosed arrisses) and a prominent hipped tiled roof with small decorative finials at the hips. A tall chimney with ribbed faces and a stone cornice is located on the right-hand side. A lateral chimney at the rear has been reduced in height to below the eaves.
At the front, the school features two large five-light classroom windows with steel frames. Small timber-framed windows are located at each end of the facade. A flat-roofed dormer above two classrooms has two ranges of four tilting lights; a central panel displays the school name and date. The original porch on the right retains two original timber windows and a modern door replacement. A porch on the left has been incorporated into a link to an additional classroom. The rear elevation has four original timber windows with segmental heads, and a truncated chimney.
A later east addition, built with brick and tile under a hipped roof, replicates the style of the original building and also incorporates a large steel window facing the road. An early wing extends to the south.
