Description
The agricultural range at Cae Serwyd is a single-storey structure built from whitened rubble and topped with a slate roof featuring a tiled ridge. The left section, which serves as a byre, has a central entrance flanked by two former entrances that have been converted into slatted, boarded windows. All entrances have cambered heads made with rough-dressed limestone voussoirs. The main entrance retains its pegged wooden frame and includes a boarded stable door. On the right side, the barn section has a larger entrance and a single tier of ventilation slits. There are 23 original nesting niches located under the eaves. At the rear of the barn section, there is an opposing entrance, along with a loading bay on the left gable and additional ventilators on the right gable, featuring a small rectangular light in the center.
The byre section consists of two bays, as does the barn section. Both sections maintain their tie-beam trusses with raking struts and original pegged purlins, although all the timber used is recycled. The barn has a slate-flagged floor and a boarded loading bay adjacent to an internal rubble dividing wall, which includes a communicating boarded door. The byre section features concrete stall divisions and a concrete floor.
