Description
The Wynnstay Arms Public House is a three-storey building with a broad, four-window facade, featuring painted roughcast with a plinth and rusticated quoins on the left side. The first and second floors display black and white detailing. It has a slate roof with wave-moulded eaves and an unusual fluted frieze, along with red brick chimney stacks at the rear and gable parapets with kneelers. The ground and first floors have small pane casement windows, alternating between two and three lights, with high transoms and moulded surrounds on the ground floor. The entrance, located in the second bay, features panelled double doors with a 24-pane overlight and deep fluted brackets, accessed by two flights of steps parallel to the front. There is a small pane cellar window and a tall carriage entry on the far right with boarded doors.
The frieze extends around the left gable for a short distance. The rear of the building is rendered and includes a very broad cross range, with a sash glazed bay window and additional small pane windows.
Inside, the rear bar area contains a former inglenook fireplace with a stone lintel, and an opening has been cut through into the dining room. The main cross beams have feather stop chamfers.
