Description
The Limekiln Group consists of three limekilns built from squared, uncoursed limestone blocks. The revetment stands about 10 meters high and 15 meters wide, featuring three kiln openings at the base. The main section on the left is approximately 12 meters wide and includes two large niches, each around 3 meters by 3 meters, which taper inwards slightly and have segmentally-arched heads with rough-dressed voussoirs. The right-hand section, about 4 meters wide, is slightly set back and contains a similar niche. Each furnace opening is roughly 4 meters deep, with a concrete floor and a modern breeze-blocked end wall.
The walls of the revetment have a noticeable batter and are topped with plain iron railings. At the top, there are three large crucibles, each approximately 3.5 meters in diameter.
