Description
24-26 Clwyd Street is a building that features a three-window range and stands one-and-a-half storeys tall, with a lobby entrance to the right of the center. The structure is timber-framed, showcasing close-studding on the upper storey, while the ground floor is rendered on a plinth, supported by a large timber post on the right. The roof is slate, with a large stone ridge stack to the right of the center and an additional stack on the left of the rear wing, which is not visible. The upper storey includes three gabled half-dormers, which are timber-framed and likely part of a 19th-century remodelling, featuring late 20th-century plain-glazed two-light wooden casements. The ground floor has shop fronts.
No 24 has a glazed door to the left and a two-light shop window to the right. The east gable end and rear elevation are roughcast, with the rear featuring split doors to the left and two small late 20th-century lights to the right of the upper storey. The large stone rear wing has its east side with two plain wooden doors and a two-light plain-glazed wooden casement to the right; the upper storey has a gabled half-dormer to the left with a two-light casement. The north gable end includes a 20th-century three-light wooden casement in each storey.
No 26 boasts a wide symmetrical shop front, featuring a central glazed door flanked by two-light bay windows, all beneath a hipped leaded roof canopy. The rear of this section is obscured by modern blocks from the adjoining property.
Inside No 24, the ceilings are adorned with medium stop-chamfered spine beams and box-panelled partitions. A large stone chimney is visible on the first floor, although there are no remaining fireplaces. The attics above the main range and rear wing feature tie-beam trusses with collars and raked struts.
No 26 also has ceilings with medium stop-chamfered spine beams. There is a fireplace to the right with a large timber lintel. The rear wall is box-framed on a plinth, and the rear wing, which is positioned at a slight angle, has similar spine beams and a large fireplace to the left with a timber lintel that is partly infilled.
