Description

Town Cross is a market cross made of sandstone, standing approximately 2.5 meters high. It features a tapering, chamfered shaft that slightly flares at the bottom and is set on a square base. This base rests on a square, stepped stone plinth with three stages, topped by plain modern railings on the first stage. The shaft shows significant wear in the center, likely from the past sharpening of knives. The upper section of the shaft is a replacement from the 18th century and ends in a small ball finial, which is dated 1760.
