Description
The War Memorial in St Foddhyd's Churchyard is a Gothic style structure standing about three metres tall. It features a small cross atop a tapering octagonal columnar shaft, which is supported by an octagonal inscribed pedestal. The inscription honors the parish's fallen soldiers from the two World Wars.
The arms of the cross are octagonal and are adorned with small decorative lozenges at both the ends and the head. The columnar shaft is capped with a floral design that supports the base of the cross. It includes a moulded base with rosettes on each face, which seamlessly blends into the cornice of the pedestal. The pedestal itself has a simply moulded base resting on a plain octagonal plinth, which has spurs that transition it to a square shape. This is situated above a weathered offset plinth and a lowest plinth with a square offset. The memorial is surrounded by a kerb that is fenced with iron chains.
