Description

Plas Newydd Lodge is a one-and-a-half storey gate lodge built in a simple Tudorbethan style. It is constructed from uncoursed, dressed limestone blocks and features a slate roof. The gable parapets are coped and kneelered, topped with ball finials. The lodge has a symmetrical three-bay front with a storeyed and gabled central porch. This porch includes a shouldered-arched entrance with a boarded and ribbed door, and above it is a 12-pane casement window. The outer bays have tripartite windows made up of 8-pane casement sections, which are adorned with a moulded label course.

On the east-facing gable, there are paired 12-pane casements with 6-pane sections on the first floor, while the west gable features a 16-pane casement on the ground floor and a tripartite window with 6-pane sections on the first floor.

The property is accessed through simple wrought iron decorative gates that face the road, positioned between square gatepiers made of tooled limestone ashlar. These gatepiers have moulded cappings and ball finials, standing approximately 2.2 meters tall. Short curved sections of uncoursed, rough-dressed limestone screen wall connect the gatepiers to additional similar piers on the left and right. These wall sections are about 1.5 meters high and have small crenellations. To the right of the right-hand pier, a similar section of wall continues to join another pair of finialed piers, which flank a blind-arched niche containing a stone watering trough on the roadside in front.

The interior was not inspected during the survey.
