Description
The lychgate at Holy Trinity Church is a canopy-type structure featuring a steep copper-green roof made of Westmoreland slate. It is supported by a pair of braced wooden posts that rest on a chamfered limestone ashlar plinth. The posts and their curved braces are stopped-chamfered with broach stops and hold up a central crown post truss. The gable sides are open, with each upper section showcasing three trefoil-headed openings and plain framing above. The lychgate includes contemporary oak half-gates that have open framing, adorned with decorative wrought ironwork in the upper sections and plain ironwork in the lower sections. There is a stopped-chamfered detail throughout, and the newel posts feature carved geometric tops.
