Description
The Four Oaks Hotel, located at Nos. 1-4 Penrhyn Crescent in Llandudno, is a terrace of four storeys and a basement, built with colourwashed rough-cast render. It features a slated hipped roof and a bracketed eaves cornice. The building has quoins, a panelled band at the third floor sill level that incorporates shallow pediments above the second floor windows, a band at the second floor sill level, and a stringcourse at the first floor cill level. The windows are fitted with sash glazing.
The symmetrical front elevation consists of twelve bays, with the end blocks slightly advanced. Each end block has two bays featuring paired segmental-headed sash lights on the third and second floors. The second floor windows have triangular pediments on consoles and are accompanied by shallow storeyed rectangular bay windows with pilasters extending from the first floor to the basement. The third bay from each end contains single light sash windows on all upper floors, with segmental heads on the third and second floors. The second floor windows in these bays also have pediments on consoles, while the first floor windows are adorned with entablatures on pilasters, leading down to doorways on the ground floor.
The fourth and fifth bays from each end also have paired segmental-headed sash lights on the third and second floors, with cornices on consoles above the second floor lights and a single shallow segmental pediment over each pair. Each of these bays features storeyed canted bay windows that extend from the first floors to the basement. The middle bays of the terrace have a single-light window on each upper floor, designed similarly to the third bay from each end.
On the right return, there are three windows in a similar style, with the outer bays featuring splayed bay windows that rise from the basement to the first floors.
