Description
The former carthouse and stable range at Plas Isa is a late 18th-century structure that incorporates a sub-Medieval barn, likely the main barn for the earlier house at Plas Isa. This building represents the northern section. It is constructed of rubble with boulder foundations at the northern gable and features a slate roof.
At the upper end on the left, there are two wide, depressed-arched cart entrances with dressed stone voussoirs. To the right, there is an entrance flanked by windows, which were formerly entrances but were altered in the 19th century. There are paired entrances to the right with additional flanking windows. All openings have cambered heads with voussoirs, and the windows feature pegged oak frames and latticing, while the doors are boarded.
Under the eaves, there are four windows; the upper two are latticed, the rightmost window is open, and the third has a boarded internal shutter. A later rubble gabled extension has been added to the rear at the northwest angle, which includes two more cart entrances. There is also a mono-pitched rubble extension on the southern gable, which slightly projects towards the farmyard side and has a plain entrance.
