Description
Pen-y-Bryn Cottage is a two-storey house constructed from colourwashed stone rubble, featuring a rear lean-to. The slate-pitched roof slopes low over the rear lean-to. The southeast elevation has three window bays, with a doorway located in the central bay on the ground floor. The sash windows do not have glazing bars; the upper windows are positioned at eaves level, while the ground floor windows have segmental heads. There is a lean-to porch.
Inside, the northeast ground floor room and hallway have a double ceiling with a central chamfered beam and wood ceiling joists of thin scantling, which are now covered. The floor is made of slate slabs, and there is a large breast at the northeast end, which is particularly visible on the upper floor, possibly indicating a bacon loft. The upper storey features wide wooden floorboards.
