Description

The former St George's School is a stone building with rendered corner blocks and slate roofs, constructed in the 19th century. It is a single-storey structure made up of several wings that feature gabled roofs arranged at right angles to one another. The building has stone transom and mullion windows.

The taller wing located at the corner with School Lane has a smooth render and a wide gable facing Church Walks to the northwest. This gable includes a narrow single light window at its apex and a large four light mullion and transom window below. On the southwest return elevation of this wing, which faces School Lane, there are two identical small cross wings, one positioned at the front and the other at the rear, with three mullion and transom windows in between. At the rear, there is a later block that steps down.

The front wall of the front cross-wing features a Tudor-arched doorway and a single light window. On the northeast return elevation of the corner wing, there is another smooth-rendered cross wing at the front and another cross wing towards the rear, which connects to an additional wing aligned on a northwest to southeast axis. This wing has a northwest gable that is lit by a three-light stone mullion window with a single light window above it. At the northeast end, there is a later 19th-century wing with three windows in its front wall.
