Description
The Sefton Court Hotel, originally a villa, dates from the 18th century. It is constructed with rendered elevations, topped by a slate roof, and features sash windows. The building is composed of several blocks. The original left-hand block has three bays, with two gables framing a narrow, steeply-pitched gable; the gable ends have carved bargeboards. A rectangular attic window is visible on the left side, and a two-storey square bay window, with two sash windows facing forwards and hoods for former first-floor blinds, is also present. The right side features a camber-headed attic window and a two-storey splayed bay window with sash glazing, also with hoods for former first-floor blinds. A narrow first-floor sash window sits centrally, above a ground-floor doorway with a Tudor arch and a part-glazed, panelled door. An iron verandah, distinguished by its scrolled frieze and tympanum, and cresting, runs between the bay windows.
To the right is a later block with a broader gable and carved bargeboards. It incorporates an elliptical attic window, two first-floor windows with architraves and keystones, and hoods for the sash windows. On the ground floor, a polygonal corner bay features sash glazing, with a buttress incorporating a scroll situated between the narrower windows to the corner. An iron verandah with a scrolled frieze and spandrels (beneath a slate roof) extends back to the left.
