Description

The Gladstone Monument is a life-sized bronze bust of William Ewart Gladstone, set on a polished granite obelisk. The obelisk features inscriptions on its four faces, which read: 'Gladstone', 'Statesman, Orator, Scholar', '29 Dec 1809 to 19th May 1898', and 'Erected by Public Subscription, 1899'. It stands on a triangular unpolished granite base, which is surrounded by a triangular flowerbed enclosure with dwarf walls. The site includes decorative iron railings and modern protective bollards.
