Description
Ty tan-y-ffordd is a building that consists of two parts, with the earlier section made of whitewashed stone rubble and a slate roof. The later section features stonework and also has a slate roof. A boarded door leads into the living area of the earlier house, which has a gable stack. The windows are 19th-century timber with panes, and the upper floor windows extend above the eaves line and have a pent roof. There is a large gable stack present.
The later part of the building has three bays, a full upper floor, and a central entrance that leads into a stair hall. It includes a service room and a living room at the southwest end, with a parlour at the upper end. The central bay has a boarded door and window, and originally featured 16-paned sash windows on both floors, although some have been altered. This section has gable and off-centre stacks.
At the time of inspection in August 1997, the building was not accessible. Locally, it is believed that the earlier section has a central cruck-type truss.
