Description
The summerhouse at Benarth Hall is a small, circular structure built around 1900. It features roughcast brick walls and a conical roof covered with small slates, topped with a lead ball finial. The eaves are feathered and supported by simply-moulded brackets. There are three 15-pane French doors that open to the east, west, and south. On the north side, there is a projecting segmental bay that used to function as an aviary, which includes two glazed top-lights and additional wire-meshed windows, along with a series of nesting niches on the inside of the external wall. To the east, there is a bowed terrace that overlooks the estuary, enclosed by Regency-style iron railings. Access to the aviary is available from this terrace and from the west through the French doors.
