Description
Tyn-y-Coed is a symmetrical single-storey terrace consisting of two cottages, each with two windows. They are built from rough-dressed slate-stone blocks and feature sandstone dressings. The cottages have a continuous slate roof with deep verges and eaves, both adorned with characteristic shaped corbelling at the corners. The bargeboards are simple, with chevron decoration on the south gable end. There are end chimneys and a central shared stack, all topped with plain cornices. Each cottage has a central entrance with slightly-recessed boarded and studded doors, which are sheltered by modern part-glazed porches. The flanking windows are 3-light mullioned types with simply-moulded sandstone reveals and simple returned labels, featuring sash windows in each light with leaded upper panes.
There is a modern dormer extension at the rear of No. 2, along with a plain-glazed upper window on the south gable. The interiors were not inspected during the survey in February 1996.
