Description
R & G Wynne Williams is a three-storey building with a cellar, featuring a two-window facade. It is constructed from coursed rubble masonry and has a moderately pitched slate roof that is hipped to the south, with plain eaves and a stone stack with water tabling.
On the second storey, there are two Victorian sash windows, each with stone lintels and sills. The first floor has similar but deeper windows. The ground floor to the left has a late 19th-century doorcase, which includes a dentil cornice with ironwork cresting, brackets, and sunk panelled pilasters. Above the part-glazed door, there is a rectangular fanlight. To the left, there is a modern window, and to the right, a modern shopfront that covers evidence of a blocked doorway.
The building has a similar two-window arrangement on the second and first floors facing Eldon Square, which is above a continuous modern shopfront. On Mill Street, there is a one-window elevation with Victorian sashes on both the second and first floors, along with a later inserted diamond window to the left on the first floor. The ground floor to the left features a rectangular bay window with an oversailing hipped slate roof, sunk panelled pilasters, and Victorian sashes. There are iron railings with dogbars and a gate leading to the cellar stairwell on the right.
Additionally, there is a three-storey, two-window house set back to the left, which is part of the Mill Street elevation. It has deep plastered eaves and Victorian sash windows with stone lintels. The ground floor openings are offset to the right, and there is Art Nouveau glass in the door and window on the first floor to the left. The property includes a railed forecourt and a cellar stairwell.
